General information:

Research activities of the Laboratory of Regulation of Cellular Activity are concentrated upon investigation of dysfunctions in the lipid modification and signal transduction mechanisms in human peripheral blood mononuclear cell plasma membranes in diverse types of leukemia and solid tumor. Particularly, it was shown that alterations in the processes of cell plasma membrane lipids fatty acid content modification and diverse endogenous lipid second messenger molecules rapid and reversible generation in the stimulated cells as well as in the activities of endogenous lipid modification enzyme systems are common characteristics for all types of cancer studied. Regular dysfunctions elucidated in the above mentioned mechanisms can be used for diverse cancers early detection and assessment as well as for discovery of novel modes for the personalized treatment of cancers.

Current research activities of the laboratory are concentrated upon investigation of:
- Changes in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells plasma membrane phospholipid content in diverse forms of solid tumors;
- Possible association of different phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C isoenzymes gene polymorphisms with the breast cancer risk.
